Every Wednesday after July 4th through the end of August, the Prospect Harbor Playgroup (which usually meets at the United Methodist Church) meets at Jones Pond for swimming, snacks, and activities. Children must wear life jackets and caregivers must go in with their children if they enter the water. Snacks and activities are provided free of charge.
To gain access to the recreation area and the boat landing, take Route 195 south from U.S. Route 1. Go about a quarter mile, watching for a dirt road turnoff on the right called Recreation Road. A little way in is a quaint little picnic and swimming area with a boat launch owned and maintained by the town of Gouldsboro. It has a nice little playground for the children and restrooms.
